Ask any serious Bass fisherman which Oregon lake is the most popular for Largemouth Bass fishing and his answer will undoubtedly be Tenmile Lakes.
Tenmile Lakes is comprised of two lakes connected by a canal – North and South – with a combined 2,000+ surface acres. Add the large surface area and the shallow waters (approximately 15-25 feet deep) that warm quickly in Spring and Summer and you have the perfect combination for some serious Bass Fishing. More Bass Tournaments are held on this body of water than any other in the state of Oregon.
The average Bass weighs in at 2-6 pounds, but it is not unheard of to catch a 7-8 pounder. Tenmile Lake has everything a Bass fisher dreams of with coves, lily pads, railroad tresses, pilings, docks, willows, and shore vegetation that provide excellent cover and productive habitat for warm water fish.
Lures and jigs that imitate small prey work well for catching these beauties. Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and other surface lures are also effective. Anglers should target areas around willows, docks, logs, or vegetation that provide a combination of cover and patches of open water. Black's Arm and the railroad trestle on North Lake are great spots for finding Bass, as well as Coleman and Templeton Arms on South Lake.
