Free Fishing Weekend is hosted by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife every year to give people the opportunity to fish in our beautiful state for free without having to pick up a temporary or annual fishing license.
Each location offers a different day/time for free fishing available. You can visit one or as many as you'd like. The free fishing day set for Lakeside is Saturday, June 3rd from 9am to 2pm on beautiful Eel Lake at Tugman State Park.
Eel Lake is brimming with fishing opportunities. The brush-lined shore, steep drop-off and underwater structure makes it the perfect lake for a bass boat and bass fishing. The lake has a good population of largemouth bass (some running up to five pounds), and other fish species include crappie, rainbow trout (which are stocked), steelhead, and coho salmon. All coho, even those under 15 inches must be released. There is a fully-accessible fishing dock at the day use area near the boat ramp. Trout and bass are often caught from the dock.
Introduce a friend, child, co-worker, or family member to fishing on Oregon's Free Fishing Weekend! Always the first weekend in June, ODFW offers Oregon residents and visitors a full weekend to fish, crab, and clam without a license. All fishing regulations still apply.
