The Rastalites is a Roots Reggae band and a “Riddim Section ” originated in Santa Ana, California. During the Summer of 2011 Chemo on bass/guitar and Misha on drums started the project under Agua de Jamaica. Three years later, with the addition of Edgar on Guitar/Keys the band added a heavily influenced Dub sound to their music.

The band started playing Roots Reggae cover songs from the greatest Rastafarian artist such as Bob Marley, Black Uhuru, Midnite, Don Carlos, Israel Vibration, Mikey Dread, Dennis Brown, Johnny Osborne, Gondwana and later created original songs adding an up tempo beat found on early Ska and Rocksteady music such as The Heptones, Toot and The Maytals and The Skatalites.

The band’s name was originated by combining RASTA… and …LITES as a tribute to the music that influenced their music.

The Rastalites sound is a blend of many music styles such as Roots Reggae, Ragamuffin, Ska, Rocksteady, Dancehall and Lovers Rock mixed with some serious freestyle Dub flavor.
